Jackson has officially taken ONE step on his own!! It was only one and it was small, but it happened! I wonder how long it will take before he is actually walking. It's really exciting, but terrifying at the same time.
He also had his first taste of cake. We went to a birthday party yesterday and while I was getting some cake he snuck his little hand into a piece when I wasn't looking. He absolutely loved it! I looked down and his hand, face, shirt, and my shirt were all covered in cake and icing. He's usually very picky about how he grabs things (pincer grasp), but he didn't care when it came to that cake. He was all over it. So much for waiting until his birthday! We know he won't hesitate to grab his little cake then.
The family came down from Chicago this weekend, so that was fun. It was grandpa's birthday and he got on the saddle at Texas Roadhouse! It was hilarious! You can definitely tell Jackson is only around us, because he does not do well with strangers. I need to start a play group to get him socialized or something. We weren't home all weekend and you could definitely tell he was happy to be home when we finally got here.
I'll add pictures later.

Big foot problems; update
Jackson's feet are throwing us for a loop. They're just not a normal size...I guess nothing on him is "normal" haha. I've been on the hunt for some shoes for him. The only ones he can fit in are some Harley Davidson Robeez. I've read a lot that says that babies should stick to soft-soles, especially when starting to walk. The problem is that I can't find his size in soft-soles!! Right now, he can fit in some Robeez. We were looking at the Nike Outlet store in Effingham and there are NO soft-soles that fit him. Not.one.single.pair. They only go up to size 3 in them....Jackson is in a 5. We did get some adorable shoes, though. We just got them in bigger sizes. I'm so excited for him to be able to wear them! I have an obsession with Baby J's...
We also ordered a new stroller! I'm really excited for it to get here. It should be here today. Lily and Uncle Andy got us the stroller we have now. It has been awesome, especially when he was wayy little. We were able to turn him around so that he faced us when we went on a walk. I'm wanting to start "working out." By working out, I mean walking, running, etc. Nothing too serious. The stroller we ordered is a jogging stroller, so it should work out nicely. Now we just need the weather to cooperate.
We took Jackson swimming last weekend! We went to the Taylorville YMCA. The pool is really nice for kids. It has a little lazy river type thing, so we just kept going around that. Jackson liked the water...he kept splashing with his hands. He didn't get excited or anything, though. I can't keep him out of anything, now. He's everywhere. We're waiting for those first steps. He's so close! He can stand with no hands! He's probably one of the loudest babies ever, haha. I think he might be working on getting another tooth. His sleep has been terrible. He was awake last night more than he was asleep. I guess we just have to keep telling ourselves that it'll get better....eventually.

9 months
Jackson is 9 months old. Only 3 months and he'll be a year old. That's crazy! He had his well-baby this morning. He's 20 lbs 11 oz. They measured him at 28 in...which is wrong. For the past 3-4 months, they've been measuring him between 27 and 28 inches. Half the time they measure him SHORTER than the previous month. His charts are showing a plateau, which was starting to cause concern for his pediatrician. We discussed it and I told her what had been going on. She said that half the time they don't measure correctly and all do it differently. She isn't concerned now, because he's outgrowing his pants. He wouldn't be doing that if he wasn't growing. So I came home and measured him around 30 inches. AT LEAST 29.5. Can't trust those damn nurses. Anyway, everything is good with him. He's doing everything that he's supposed to be doing.
He now has one tooth that has came through. He's still not sleeping through the night. He's getting into everything. He's standing up to everything. He's walking around with his walker. He can stand on his own if I make him. He usually just tries to sit down, haha. He's getting a ton of hair. Usually you can't see it, because it's so light. He makes the funniest facial expressions. He does this little snort thing with his nose all the time. It's hilarious! He still has stranger danger. He eats like a champ. We're basically just giving him table food now. We still give him some purees, but not that often. It's so cute when he feeds himself. He likes pretty much everything, besides squash. He doesn't like juice, but loves water. He is such a snuggler. Sometimes he'll wake up in the middle of the night and just crawl to one of us to snuggle. It's adorable. He's so loud. Always letting out these war cries. Such an awesome baby :)
