Now accepting applications...

We had a big weekend around here.  Bryce's (Jackson's cousin) birthday party was on Sunday and so was Michelle's baby shower.  Jackson finally got to really interact with his "girlfriend".  Soo adorable.  Jackson was talking to her, grabbing her feet, ya know....winning her over.  Kid has game ;)  It got me thinking.  Now, I've never agreed with arranged marriage.  BUT, I'm willing to reconsider.  When you're a mom, the whole idea sounds a little sweeter (only kidding).  But really, I'm totally okay with picking his girlfriends, haha.  I plan on putting them through a whole screening process.  Ya know that father's application for dating his daughter (on Pinterest)?  Us mommies need to make our own.  It needs to include things like "Do you understand that mom is always #1?" "Do you agree that mom's opinion is most important?"....the usual things.  Although Jackson won't be dating until he's thirty....I'm now accepting applications!

Signed,
     Crazy mom :)

PS...I'm only slightly serious about this post :)

Sleep...(or lack of sleep)

I'm pretty positive that his sleep has gotten WORSE!  I didn't even know that was possible.  I'm not really sure how we function throughout the day.  It might not be so bad if I wasn't a full time student with 15 credit hours...  I can't even focus anymore!  We decided to stop sleep training, because he started only getting up once at night.  Well now he's back to waking up at LEAST every 2 hours.  We moved him out of the pack n play and into his crib, too.  We'll usually get him to sleep on us and then try to transfer him to his crib.  As soon as we lay him down...he's right back up, except screaming because we put him down.  It's brutal.  I tried "tricking" him with water, like his pediatrician recommended.  He was having NO part of it.  He knew that it wasn't milk and he definitely let me know.   He has ended up in bed with us the last 2 nights.  The first night was around 2a and last night I got him around 5a.  I'm hoping he just starts sleeping better on his own, because he isn't liking anything we're trying.

My big boy is now SITTING UP, though!  It was pretty exciting when we realized he could do it :)  He's making all kinds of fun new noises.  He's pretty much saying da-da now, but I'm fully aware that he has no idea what it means.  Still cool to hear him say, though.  Darrin was really excited when I sent him audio of it :)  Jax still does his huge open-mouthed smile, which is the absolute best.  He's starting to beat on things now, too.  Fun stuff!

Blowing bubbles with his mouth.  I would upload the video, but I'm not really sure how...  It's pretty hilarious

Such a sweet boy :)

Lovin' those feets

Sleep Training...

Sleep training...what do I even say about you?  You're awful!  I'm not sure that any of us are ready for it.  We've tried for 2 nights, but haven't made it through either of them.  Darrin and I are sissies.

Night 1
Darrin was at work, so I tried on my own.  Got Jackson through the little night time routine we have and then laid him down.  He laid there for a couple minutes playing and then the crying started.  I let him cry for 5 minutes and then got him calmed down.  As soon as I walked out, the crying started again.  5 minutes later I went back in and got him calmed down.  And again after 5 more minutes.  The longest I let him cry was 9 minutes without going in there to calm him down.  I couldn't make it to the 10th minute.  He cried for a total of 30 minutes.  I went in there and picked him up.  He had those awful after a hard cry sniffles.  He was in tears...I was basically in tears...It wasn't a good time.  He finally fell asleep snuggled on me, but was sniffling like that forever.  It was terrible :(  I decided I wouldn't let him cry in the middle of the night, so I just picked him up and nursed him when he woke up.  I hate hearing my baby boy cry, especially when I know he only wants me to pick him up...

Night 2
Darrin was home this time.  We got him all ready for bed (he LOVED bath time last night...he was splashing like crazy!) and then laid him in his bed.  He was okay for a couple minutes and then started crying.  Darrin went in after 5 minutes and got him calmed down.  He went in again after 5 minutes.  I don't really remember whether he fell asleep the second or the third time he went in.  Whatever time it was, Darrin went in and he pulled Darrin's arm to his face and fell asleep.  Definitely went better than the night before.  We decided that we would keep doing it when he woke up, buuuuutttt....I'm a sissy and couldn't do it.  When he woke up and started crying I waited 5 minutes and then calmed him down.  I didn't make it through the second 5 minutes.  I got up, picked him up, and nursed him.  (As soon as I picked him up he stopped crying)  He did sleep better last night, though.  He only got up once, instead of every 2 hours.

I'm just not sure we're ready.  I think we're gonna do our own modified version of sleep training, because we obviously can't handle his pediatrician's recommendation.  We just have to figure out what works best for us...  Maybe he'll just continue only waking up once.  I'm okay with that.  He just misses me in the middle of the night :)

Mommy Problems :)

We have a situation on our hands.... Jackson only wants me.  Daddy is second.  And Grandma Heis and Auntie Rach will do.  Anybody else?  No way.  He will scream.  Loud screams.  I secretly love that he wants me all the time :)  I do feel bad when someone wants to hold him and he won't have it, though.  He used to let me lay him on his playmate or put him in the saucer without having to be right there.  Not anymore.  He requires 100% of my attention....at all times.  Is this supposed to happen so soon??  I guess I'll soak up all the Jax attention, love, and snuggles I can get!  I'm okay with it :)

Sleep training starts tomorrow night...wish us luck!

Just in time!

Jackson has officially rolled over both ways!!  A couple weeks ago he rolled from his back to his belly and today he started rolling from his belly to his back!  So skilled :)  Anyway, I heard somewhere that when they start rolling over you shouldn't swaddle them anymore.  Well Jackson was definitely a swaddle baby...   Last week we ditched the swaddle and he slept like he normally does.  Just in time for his rolling skills!

Something totally un-related...taking care of a baby when you're sick is awful!  Especially when baby has a fever from his shots and is starting to get sick himself.  Why didn't anyone warn me?  I can't even take what I want because I'm breastfeeding.  Definitely hasn't been fun around here, haha.  I slept in the living room last night so I didn't wake the boys up.  I'm sneezing, coughing, and blowing my nose like crazy!  And running on zero sleep.  Wish us luck, haha!

4 months

Mr. Jackson is 4 months old.  He had his well-baby checkup today.  Definitely don't get excited to go to them anymore.  Shots are the devil.  He's a trooper, though.  I asked about starting solids, but his pediatrician recommends waiting longer.  We decided to hold off as long as we can, but at least by 6 months.  She also recommended starting sleep training, because this kid doesn't sleep.  We're not gonna start until tomorrow night, because he got his shots today and we don't wanna traumatize him anymore.  I'm sure we're in for a week of hell, but hopefully it'll be worth it.

He's 17 lbs. 1 oz. and 26 in. long.  He's around 88% for both height and weight.  He's in the 96% for head circumference, though.  Biiiiiig boy!

This kid is seriously so fun!  He smiles and laughs all the time.  He can be pretty dramatic, but he gets it honestly :)  He's happiest when he's home, so he can get a little grumpy if we're away too long.  He has a slight case of stranger danger...but I like to think he just loves me so much he only wants me :)  He is constantly putting something in his mouth (his fingers, my fingers, his pediatrician's fingers, toys, you name it).  He loves to stand up.  He is grabbing for everything.  He babbles like crazy and lets out warrior yells...it's hilarious.  Sometimes I can't even go to sleep, cuz he's out in the living room with Darrin being way loud.  We are so lucky, cuz he is seriously the greatest!
